TETRA

TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) is an ETSI standard for trunked radio systems.

It can be used for modes of operation between devices such as ‘group calling mode’ and ‘direct mode’ which are not possible in the public network. As a result, this technology is ideal for mission-critical voice communications.

One of the largest TETRA networks, ‘BOS Digital Radio‘, is operated in the Federal Republic of Germany. It provides a nationwide, high-availability and secure network for voice communication to all of Germany’s security authorities and organisations.

The Tetra Critical Communication Association supports the further development of this standard.

7layers is a BSI-certified interoperability testing service provider for the certification of devices and control centres using the BOS Digital Radio network.
