Without ISED certification wireless products cannot obtain market approval for Canada. The certification process of the Canadian authority ISED (Innovation, Science and Economic Development) assesses the electromagnetic compatibility of wireless devices. Although an additional electrical safety test is not mandatory for products marketed in Canada, it is often a market requirement.
Proof of device conformance with ISED requirements is obtained through product tests in an ISED-accredited laboratory.
If the device already has FCC certification, i.e. market approval for the USA, the FCC test results can be used in the ISED certification process, which can reduce testing costs.
