New Regulation for SRRC Certification in China

 

A new regulation concerning SRRC certification has been published from The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in China, on 12 October 2019.

A SRRC certification is relevant for all products that use a radio transmitter in any form.

The main changes of this regulation No. 39 are:

• There are six situations in which SRRC update ca be performed.
  1. The information of license holder has changed.
  2. The information of factory has changed.
  3. Factory’s quality system has changed (for example: production capacity, technical force, quality assurance system, production line and origin).
  4. Modifications in components
  5. After obtaining the certificate, the model changes before it actually goes into production and sale.
  6. Changes in product-related information due to changes in national laws and regulations or radio management policies.
• Until this new regulation the radio transmitter module for independent operation could be embedded in information technology equipment and household appliances without a detailed product list. Now the list has been defined.
• Family approval is possible for specific products. ”Family is defined like this:
• Identical function and use of the products
• The appearance and shape of the product are approximately the same (e.g. color changes, small changes in product size and other appearance changes do not affect the RF performance of the product).
• The embedded modules (WLAN, including Bluetooth) and public mobile communication (including NB-IoT, eMTC) have been SRRC certified.
• The State Radio Administration will intensify its supervision and inspection of relevant radio transmitting equipment.

Update on Algerian Type Approval Procedure

A new procedure of type approval has come into effect. It was published by the Algerian Authority Autorité de Régulation de la Postes et des Communications éléctroniques (ARPCE) on 17 October, 2019.

 

Important changes at a glance:

• The validity of any certificate will be 3 years from now on instead of 2 years
• RED – Type Examination Certificate is required
• One radiated sample (as usual with a label on it) has to be submitted for any application including 2G/3G/GSM (instead of three samples as before for 2G/3G/GSM cellular)
• All test reports must be dated less than 3 years. If it’s not, a declaration from the manufacturer stating that the device is still manufactured and conform with the previous test report which are still valid as well is mandatory
• In addition of the EMC, RF, Safety Test (as usual), the SAR test is mandatory from now on
• All applications must be submitted in both paper and digital forms
• The deadline of treatment for any application won’t exceed two months

 

Interlab Test Solution DEVICE/UICC extension for 5G NR USIM/USAT conformance testing now listed at Global Certification Forum

Today the Interlab Test Solution DEVICE/UICC for 5G NR USIM/USAT got listed as TP 302 at Global Certification Forum (GCF). The 5G NR USIM protocol conformance testing extension of the Test Solution, defined in 3GPP specification TS 31.121 USIM Rel-15, is based on the new 5G NR radio communication tester R&S®CMX500. The Test Solution is developed in close cooperation with the global communications test and measurement solution provider Rohde & Schwarz.

“The Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) already plays a central role for authentication and secured access requirements to 3G and 4G mobile networks and will keep its core functionality for 5G”, says Magdy Ahmed, Product Manager at Interlab Test Products. “To cover the new requirements for 5G, GCF has introduced two new work items (WI#508-NR / WI#509-NR).” It is expected that the corresponding GCF USIM certification will become mandatory in 2020. The Interlab Test Solution DEVICE/UICC for 5G NR USIM/USAT will meet these GCF certification requirements.

Existing 3G and 4G customers of the Interlab Test Solution DEVICE/UICC can upgrade their test platform to operate 5G NR USIM protocol conformance testing. The first test case package for 5G NR USIM protocol conformance testing will be available on time with the GCF certification requirements. “The Interlab Test Solution DEVICE/UICC for 3G and 4G was already successfully developed on a Rohde & Schwarz Tester”, explains Magdy Ahmed. “And of course, we continue our partnerships with Rohde & Schwarz in creating customer values for mobile device UICC testing”, confirmed Magdy Ahmed. “Having good partners by your side is the key to success for any further developments.”

Interlab Test Solution DEVICE/UICC

The Test Solution covers all GCF and PTCRB requirements for cellular technologies such as 3G, LTE, Cat-M1 and NB-IoT in interaction with USIM and USAT at the UICC. With the 5G extension network operators, chipset and module manufacturers as well as test laboratories can also ensure 5G conformance of their devices in accordance to GCF and PTCRB requirements and will continue to benefit from highest automation and synchronization capabilities of the Test Solution.
