New Regulatory Requirements in Namibia for radio/wireless products
CRAN to replace ICASA in Nambia
In 2015, the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) stated its own regulation for Radio Type Approval. Telecommunication and radio communication equipment must now be approved according to the national Namibian regulations. No longer is it possible to use South Africa’s “ICASA” approval if you want to export radio/wireless devices to Namibia.
On 30th April 2016, the transition period to fulfill this requirement will come to an end.
If your products are currently exported to Namibia and you do not have a valid type approval certificate issued by CRAN yet, you should urgently apply for type approval in Namibia now.
In order to avoid an interruption in exports of your products the filings for telecommunication and/or radio communication equipment have been submitted to the CRAN by 30th April 2016 at the latest. 7layers, an experienced wireless test and services expert, assists companies with Namibia Type Approval, offering a very short lead time (typically 1-3 weeks).
