7Layers joins TD-LTE initiative GTI

The Global TD-LTE Initiative, called GTI, was founded in 2011 by leading mobile network operators. It has been formed to promote the early adoption of the TD-LTE technology and convergence of LTE TDD and LTE FDD technology.

As a leading provider of LTE test services and LTE test systems, 7Layers has joined the GTI initiative to support the continuously growing deployment of LTE technologies and devices in all corners of the world. LTE is on its way to become the first really global standard for mobile broadband, with operators deploying either TDD (time division duplex) or FDD (frequency division duplex) technologies.

As the only global provider of LTE test and certification services and developer of highly automated InterLab Test Solutions for special LTE test requirements, 7Layers is well suited to support the GTI Initiative in its many activities.

7Layers involvement in LTE deployment has been manifold in recent years. As a leading ISO17025 validation organization, 7Layers has been validating some of the first LTE test cases for leading LTE test equipment manufacturers and supported the set-up of LTE device certification schemes.

7Layers has also developed the InterLab Test Solutions

  • LTE USIM/USAT, which verifies the interoperability between an LTE devices with an LTE network and the UICC (Universal Integrated Circuit Card) and includes including validated test case packages for TDD and FDD.
  • TD-LTE/TD-SCDMA IRAT, which verifies the conformity of dual mode terminals with integrated TD-LTE and TD-SCDMA technology, regarding IRAT (Inter Radio Access Technology) functionalities.

For LTE device manufacturers 7Layers offers unique global coverage with LTE test and certification capabilities in the USA, Germany, S. Korea and P.R. China for regulatory approval, PTCRB and GCF certification, as well as for network operator approvals such as Verizon Wireless, Sprint, MetroPCS, China Mobile, AT&T, DT, Vodafone etc.

By joining GTI, 7Layers shows its commitment to help drive TD-LTE and FD-LTE employment and the introduction of TD-LTE/FD-LTE converged devices, allowing for seamless handover between TDD-LTE and FDD-LTE frequencies, thus enhancing end-user LTE experience.
