New 7layers Test Services
for cutting edge Technologies

HSUPA Test Services
HSUPA stands for High Speed Uplink Packet Access and describes the most efficient procedure for sending data via UMTS devices. HSUPA is a 3G mobile telephony protocol belonging to the HSPA family. HSUPA offers enhanced data rates, fast packet retransmission mechanisms, and reduced packet latencies. Characteristics of HSUPA are described by the 3GPP, Release 6. Currently a number of HSUPA test cases are in the process of being validated and will become mandatory in due course. For FCC approvals certain HSUPA tests are already a must. 7layers is the first 3rd party telecommunications test laboratory worldwide, offering HSUPA testing for both protocol and RF testing. We support our customers entering the global market with HSUPA products. As early as mid-August 2007, one of the 7layers’ customers received the first ever FCC approval for a HSUPA data card.

U-SAT Test Services
The 3GPP Test Specification 31.124 covers the applicable test sequences which verify the interoperability between the UICC, the User Equipment and mandatory User Equipment procedures, especially for the USIM Application Toolkit (USAT). The required USAT Test Cases are based on several test systems and require the synchronization of various test steps. USAT tests are mandatory both for PTCRB and GCF accreditation. 7layers has been the first 3rd party test house worldwide implementing the InterLab USAT test solution in its laboratories. The InterLab USAT Test Solution enables us to perform all those complex tests that require the joint operation of a 3G SIM simulator and a 3G Network simulator according to 3GPP TS 31.124. Rely on our outstanding experience for USAT testing when entering the global market!

A-GPS Test Services
7layers is the only lab worldwide offering all currently validated GCF and PTCRB validated test cases for A-GPS (assisted global positioning system). This includes RF minimum performance tests, 2G protocol conformance tests and OMA Application Enablers. 7layers is currently involved in the validation process of all A-GPS test cases for various test equipment.

New 7layers services for Application Enabler Testing
Attractive new applications, such as transmission of photos, music or even video clips are a challenge for today’s mobile radio networks. New technologies are making networks more powerful than ever, but that alone is not enough to secure smooth and fast transfer of large data rates and interoperability of terminals from various manufacturers. However that alone will ensure end-user satisfaction.

One of the most important pre-requisites for reliable data transfer and satisfactory utilization of new applications, is that such high-tech mobile phones meet specific minimum requirements for handling the file formats. OMA has specified a number of test cases which have partly been adopted by PTCRB and GCF. With these test cases it is possible to verify whether the terminals under test comply with the minimum standards when transmitting and receiving data. Depending on the application enabler, the requirements from standardization bodies – regarding the capabilities of the terminal – differ considerably. The task of testing application enablers however is totally different from executing signaling test cases. Test cases that are geared to verify application layers instead of the lower protocol layers can be divided into automatic, static and manual tests, depending on the test purpose they fulfill. Setting up reliable and reproducible test processes are complicated and need a lot of experience.

7layers has supported manufacturers for years and helped them fulfilling even the most complex requirements. Rely on 7layers for testing applications like:

  • Multimedia Messaging Services (MMS)
  • Java testing
  • Secure User Plane Location (SUPL)
  • Video Telephony (VT)
  • Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC)
  • Instant Messaging and Presence Service (IMPS)
