Type Approval Services for P. R. of China

Achieving Type Approval in P. R. China is quite a complicated, time consuming task with high costs for certification. Having an experienced partner with a Chinese location at hand, such as 7 layers can therefore be highly advantageous.

Different varieties of Chinese type approvals

One or more different varieties of type approval may be applicable, depending on the kind of product you want to bring to market:

1. Radio Transmission Equipment Type Approval Certificate (RTA)
    for all radio transmitters

2. Network Access License (NAL)
    for all telecommunications equipment that connect
    to the public telecommunications network

3. China Compulsory Certification (CCC), safety and EMC testing
    for wireless telecommunications equipment

4. China RoHS certification (Restriction of hazardous Substances)
    for all products involved in measures for Administration of
    the Pollution Control of Electronic Information Products

Chinese Type Approval pitfalls
   ▬ For all certifications it is mandatory to go through a testing process
       according to Chinese standards and national approval requirements.
   ▬ Module certification is possible in principal, but customs issue need
       to be considered.

Radio Transmission Equipment Type Approval Certificate (RTA)

▬ China - SRRC and CMIIT ID
    SRRC (State Radio Regulatory Commission of P. R. China)
    is in charge of issuing RTA certificate
▬ Approved radio equipment such as mobile phones must be marked
    with an approval code, known as the CMIIT ID
    Since 1st of January 2009 the CMIIT label must have the form:
    CMIIT ID XXXXYYZZZ
    The meaning is:
    CMIIT
    Abbreviation for China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology
    XXXX:
    Year of approval (e.g., “2006”)
    YY:
    A code indicating equipment category. (e.g., “DJ” for a short range devices)
    ZZZZ:
    Approval serial number issued by SRRC (State Radio Regulatory Committee).

The manufacturers name must be exactly the same as the name in the company registration form. The CMIIT ID will be provided on the Type Approval Certificate.

    in the first Catalogue of Products Subject to Compulsory Certification

ROHS certification

The "Key Administrative Catalogue for the Pollution Control of Electronic Information Products (Batch 1)" (short RoHS = Restriction of Hazardous Substances) will be formally issued end 2009. At the latest 10 month afterwards all listed products that go on sales in P.R. China must obtain the China RoHS certification! Especially foreign manufacturers who are importing into China may find it helpful to have a partner at hand who fully understands details of the new legislation.
For other products that have not yet been listed in the Catalogue but in the “Measures for Administration of the Pollution Control of Electronic Information Products” should be subject to the Measures.
